Young animals have an immature digestive system, and the protease secreted by their own body is insufficient to fully digest the protein in feed, which limits growth performance and leads to wastage of feed ingredients. For animals in a rapid growth stage, high-protein diets are often formulated. However, due to their large feed intake, the secretion of endogenous protease cannot match the intake level, resulting in incomplete protein digestion. Undigested or partially digested protein undergoes fermentation by microorganisms in the large intestine, producing toxic amines that damage the intestinal wall and cause nutritional diarrhea. Supplementing feed with exogenous protease can make up for the deficiency of endogenous protease, enhance protein digestion and absorption, increase average daily gain, reduce feed-to-meat ratio, lower the incidence of nutritional diarrhea, improve feed utilization, and ultimately enhance animal production performance.
